The Barn Owl (Tyto alba) is the most widely distributed species of owl and one of the most widespread of all birds. that said, in the UK they are not common in all areas. In fact in some areas they are almost a rarity.
The archetypal image of a Barn Owl – the bird standing perched on a gatepost, with its prey still in its talons, is one most photographers strive to get. I prefer to get the bird in its glory, its ghostly silent flight, quartering across the reed beds and moors.
This is of course a mini-project for me and I have yet to get the number and quality of images I strive for, but these are my best ones to date.
