Hoodie paddles on the Trent at Newton Solney

Last Saturday (23rd February) a trip to Newton Solney, where a presumed-escaped drake Hooded Merganser, was happily paddling up and down the River Trent, having supposedly come down the River Dove. Although a probable escape, these birds need checking, just in case.

This last shot reveals the ‘clipped’ left wing, so no tick, but what an awesome bird!
